Our Professionals

Kim Carey

I have family ties on Cape Cod that go back genterations. I've also seen my own children grow to adulthood in the community of my youth. So it's amazing to see the many changes that have come to our town. One of those is Mashpee Commons. It has grown to become a thriving centerpiece village for the town and surrounding communities.

In 2009, I became a licensed massage therapist. I admit I have a bit of a holistic mentality about many parts of my life, and massage therapy fit that bill perfectly.

I joined BodyWork Health & Wellness Center that same year. As a fully licensed massage therapist, I'm known for my combination of relaxation and deep tissue massage. I maintain many regular clients. Plus, I also love meeting new people and helping solve their muscle issues.

In 2016, I became the co-founder of Quiet Moments. Our new space is a relaxing enviroment; a sanctuary where you will receive a quality, comfortable massage experience.

Whether old clients or new friends, I look forward to meeting you. Drop by to see how we can help bring more balance and health to your body and your life.

I knew at a fairly young age I wanted to be an esthetician, and reflecting on my career it is easy to see how my experiences have led me to Quiet Moments.

I am passionate about skin care and the facials I offer. In the early years of my career, I was introduced to Reiki (a form of energy work) and found combing the facial massage with Reiki enhanced the experience for the client, not only addressing the needs of the skin but also assisting in the client being able to reach a level of relaxation that leaves them feeling they have received much more than a facial.

Quiet Moments has the environment that supports my work, from the atmosphere to my colleagues. I welcome you to stop by or call to make an appointment.

As I enter my new journey opening Art of Hair, let me reflect on my past.

Born and raised in Nantucket. I graduated in 1981, then continued my education at Continental Academy of Hair Design.

My passion for the beauty world brought me back to Nantucket to gain 35 years of experience! In that time, I opened the award winning salon, Angel Hair and received awards for Boston Magazine best salon and also Nantucket Magazine's top hairdresser of the year!

I am now living on Cape Cod and bring to you my experience and passion as my new salon, Art of Hair begins!

I am proud to join my colleagues Kim and Emily at Quiet Moments.

As your certified, holistic health coach, I will guide you in creating the healthy lifestyle you desire while enhancing who you are today. I have coached clients from California to Massachusetts, providing sensible, sustainable practices that strengthen well-being and help identify misconceptions.

When I was diagnosed with lupus in 2009, I was told the same story that most people with an auto-immune disorder are told- "We don't know why your immune system has turned against itself but there are medications to stop it from happening."  I knew that this was NOT the path for me - I had to find out why. Every answer pointed to diet and lifestyle. Even though I thought I ate well, I learned that my immune system was constantly being invaded by the chemicals in processed foods, toxins in the environment, stress and infections. I learned that by making changes in my lifestyle, I could take charge of my health again.

By simply changing to a predominately plant-based diet, I was able to get off all medications in a matter of months. The paradox was that even though I thought I had felt well before my diagnosis, I realized that I had not felt well in years! By making changes in my diet and lifestyle, I found that I had more energy, thicker hair, stronger nails, clearer skin and slept better than before. I knew that I needed to share this with people who may be writing off their ailments as 'just me'- the way I always had. I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition so I could learn more about the science behind nutrition, distinguish food facts from fads and to learn how to effectively share this with others. I've continued to be both a coach and a learner so that I can share the most up-to-date evidence based knowledge I can.
